Joseph
There is something about Joseph that intrigues Lisa. Although she is fully aware that he is married and he tells her, "You're too young and you deserve more than to be waiting on some old married man," she decides to wait anyway (177). Not only does she wait, she pursues a relationship with an unavailable man, ultimately contradicting her beliefs.
She says, "I was in love--deep, deep love--with a married man" (189). So the question becomes, why Joseph? What does Williamson's actions reveal about her character in this chapter? How do you view her at this point in the text?

Society has a very strange way of showing how they want women to be. When women are quiet and stick to one man, we're described as "boring and brainless" because we don't know how to explore the world around us. It's even worse when we stick by a man who’s hurting us because then we're "stupid and naive". But when we chose to be alone and cautious of whom we give ourselves to next, we're described as uptight and too serious. Therefore, Williamson decided that it would be better to figure out a position that was in between the two main positions of male and female relationships of society. In this chapter, Williamson describes herself as "beautiful and fly"; at this point she believed those were main qualities that would allow her to get any man she pleased (166). Although this may make Williamson seem very shallow, she was still picky about the men she went after. Joseph seemed like her perfect match: "angry, intelligent, respected, admired by other men, and possessed a semblance of power" (167). Her high level of confidence ended up blocking out her common sense. She should've known that if a man could let temptation tear him away from his family and potentially tarnish his role model lifestyle, then that was not a man she should be trying to die down. Despite Sonya being jealous of the relationship Williamson developed with Joseph, she made a valid point when she confronted him: ". . .[Williamson] never had a father, she [she] had no respect for any real understanding of what a 'family' unit was-- other than a useful piece of political jargon" (195).
ReplyDeleteI agree with you to a certain extent, The way society especially the african american culture made created a image of women that is not completely accurate. In our present society television has portrayed women to be obnoxious and arrogant but make it look okay because of there beautiful physiques. When a male meets a women who is opposite of what they see and desire they are catergorized as "wack" or in other words boring. This is not only men who have the that mind set but also women . I believe women only find men with money attractive. When it comes to love the world is corrupted mentally and psychology
DeleteLisa has the personality of the ideal man with the body of the ideal woman. This creates a person who is very egotistic, confident, and aggressive, while still seeming innocent. However she is not perfect, this overflowing confidence that she has blinds her to the immediate repercussions of her actions, and blinds her to the feeling of others. One can compare this whole situation between Joseph, Sonya, and Nikki like an adult taking candy from a baby. Sonya seemingly does not have the sexual power that Lisa has, so Lisa just coming out of no where and taking Sonya's man is not only wrong in a moral sense but it contradicts Lisa's entire ideal. Why would you take another woman's man when right before that you were talking about not breaking apart the family? If you are able to do something it does not mean you have to. And with the way Lisa talks about herself, she can have the pick of the liter, so why try to tarnish this prominent black man's life?
ReplyDeleteI think that Lisa was at least half way out of her mind in this chapter. She was tired of feeling like she got the short end of the stick and decided to take action. Williamson did not care if that meant taking something that was not hers, if she wanted something she had the power to go after it by any means necessary. Her youth also played a part in her mistakes because young people tend to make decisions off of half-way developed ideas. Williamson's mind was playing tricks on her; thus leading to her believing that she was 'unstoppable'.
DeleteI agree. When it was time for Williamson to look/ turn to a guide, she looked at her parents and the actions of everyone else's idea of love/ a relationship. Her mother and her father were together, but when her father's end of the relationtionship got rough and shakey, the mother up and left. Her mother then began her road of individuality by telling and keeping her pride and her dignity and maintaining the house and children. But, like the first chapter revealed to the readers, a mother is your first role model- when she is right she is right, when she is wrong she is right! With this being said, when Williamson's mother lost her way and beliefs, bringing in men and sleeping with them, it was seen and recoreded in the eyes and mind of Williamson's young, nieve mind.Same with Nikki's displayed idea of love. Nikki used and slept with different men for support and stability for herself. Williamson just wanted her chancesomething different from everyoone else, but her high level of confidence made her a victim of the game that everyone was playing
DeleteJoseph a powerful, black intellectual speaker. After hearing him captivating the attention of numerous African American men, Lisa was also captivated. She wanted Joseph because of his intellect which mimics her and his looks. "My first attraction to Joseph was the fact that he was fed up with white racism"(Souljah 167). Souljah was stimulated by his view points. Joseph was like a dream come true, a man who shares the same viewpoints as her and stimulates her sexually at the same time. Her actions in this chapter shows that Lisa is determined to get what she wants, she is devious, and intelligent. She was able to seduce a married man who turned down many other women. Also, caused Joseph to go against his beliefs. He was a married man and wasn't suppose to have affairs. Lisa was in love with Joseph so much that she threw her beliefs on the back burner. She did not want to ruin his marriage and still did. She still wanted to be with him after he said "you're too young and you deserve more than to be waiting on some old married man." Lisa went so far to tell him, she is pregnant when she not, to keep him. After, reading the chapter I view Lisa the same way as I did before. In life, you can not control who you love or is sexually connected to. It showed me she is a determined and when she wants something she is going to get it.
ReplyDeleteHer situations are very depressing it simply represents the lack of outspoken and educated African American men. Lisa involves in the regime of disappointment to not only herself but to people who look up to her.
DeleteI agree with you Quason. I believe that it was his intelligence and power that captivated Lisa because she had a preference of her men and fit it completely. it was few men with these qualities, that's why she participated in this affair with a married man with children.
DeleteI believe she chose Joseph because as she quotes “…. Joseph angry, he was intelligent, respected, and admired by other men, which in some sense meant that he has some semblance of power… I wanted to feel personally, sexually… I wanted to feel him in the same way thousand and even millions of African women fantasize about loving their minister…” (William 167). Lisa feelings for Joseph were genuine, but he wasn’t in love with her. Lisa knew exactly what she was getting herself into with a married man, and ended up getting heartbroken by the boy she deeply had feeling s for. My question is; why would she develop feelings for a married man, and try to ruin a family because she was heartbroken from her last relationship with Nathan? As a result of Lisa action, as a young lady I do not respect the decisions that she has put forth. I believe she is disrespecting her body, her mind, and her spirit. In my opinion, Lisa Williamson has the ability of being knowledgeable, but rushing into a different relationship with a married man is just ridiculous. Her mother has taught her to respect herself, but the different men that came into her life have impacted her. I become difficult for a girl to experience love when a father walks out her life at a young age, because in Lisa’s life she had to witness her father leave her mother, and became hopeless living in the projects. I believe the only reason she behaves this way she does, is because she doesn’t know what love is. Without her mother not being involved in her life she tend to look for love in the wrong places and get hurt easily.
ReplyDeleteAs said by Dale "Lisa has the personality of the ideal man with the body of the ideal woman". Meaning that she has the smarts and thoughts of a man in a woman's figure. Lisa began to get attracted to Joseph because he has a sense of knowledge that persuades others. Although he was married, she is still persistent in trying to get his attention. She is blinded by her ego. Meaning that she thinks she is right in whatever she does. All of this goes back to the beginning of the book. She shows some of her mother's characteristics. All of these men coming in and out of her life is the same thing that her mother went through. Now looking back at the sequence of the story, she is becoming her mother in her own significant way
ReplyDeleteI agree with both jahciem and Dale. I like how Dale deemed Lisa. To me Lisa wants someone who is just like her just in male form.
DeleteI also realized how she was deemed by his personality and characteristics but i also think she didnt only love him because she felt he was just like her, i think its his image all together as a strong man. She is blinded by her ego and does not see the reality of this man having a wife and children. I believe she doesnt want someone exactly like her but she wants someone who hold the same quality and characteristics like she has
DeleteI agree with you. Lisa is persistent in trying to get a married man's attention because his way of articulating himself and persuading others highly intrigued her. She was attracted to Joseph. Being with Joseph went against her beliefs and his as well but they were both driven by desire. Joseph desire was sexually while Lisa's was more hope of finding the right one and not letting him go.
DeleteI agree with you Jahceim because she does take on her mother characteristic. She lack the ability to find love, and as a young lady she should know better than that. Lisa lost herself through the process because she should have never involved herself with a married man. That was her biggest mistake to be with a married man, because she know that she will get hurt again. Even though she was attracted to Joseph, she should have had her boundary's involving herself with a married man. The only reason she acts this way she, is because she has been hurt by Nathan so she wants attention.
DeleteIn Lisa Williamson's text No Disrespect, Sister Souljah has came across a married man name Joseph. Joseph was a strong, powerful, motivated man. When she started seeing Joseph, she knew it was wrong because he is older than her, and he was married but, she was convinced that he wanted her as much as she wanted him. If Lisa knew what she was doing was wrong, why did she continue to do it? I think the reason she had sexual relations with Joseph because he was more experienced with sex and after what happen with her and Nathan and with Kyle, she is just looking for someone to love. She kept using her body language to persuade Joseph however, Joseph started to get confused because he was committed to his family yet he still wanted Lisa. Lisa feared what would happen if Joseph wife found. Eventually, she did and so did others especially one of Lisa’s friend. Lisa wanted Joseph all to herself and when she told him, she was “pregnant”, he said to get an abortion. I think that she deserved what she got because she was too caught up with Joseph and she had to realize that he will always be loyal to his family. She keeps getting let alone and hurt and soon she might end up like her mother, which she said she would not be.
ReplyDeleteI think Williamson was a bit smarter than her mother. She probably felt like the mistakes she made would not cause her to live the same lifestyle as her mother. However, because her mistakes were similar and her confidence was much stronger, she forced herself to believe that she was better than her mother. In many ways I think this is true, but Williamson could not see that in this chapter because of her arrogance. Unfortunately, her vulnerability overcame her confidence.
DeleteThroughout the entire book Lisa Williams shows attractions for a certain kind of man. As a great educator, a confident, intriguing speaker and with attractive features, Lisa eyes dazzled all over Joseph. Her mind was blown away from what she admired about him. He spoked with anger in his voice and many other man admire him too. She was boiling up inside and although she knew he had a Wife she still wanted to challenge herself and fullfill her desire. It is well common during this chapter that most woman like Williams loose themselves for someone else. They would rather Settle for someone who does dirty to them or shows little to less interest in them. It confirms the reality of a woman's wants and a mans need. Relationship is a battling effect as it can change us into someone we are not or it could bring out the best person in us. That's what I believe the Joseph chapter serves as.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Richard and his analysis of Lisa. I also believe that Lisa had no control over her sexual temptations. Even though she was driven by her sexual desires ,Joseph always had smarts and power which made her want him even more. He was just perfect in her eyes and him being married was not going to stop her from getting the man of her dreams.
DeleteI also agree with your analysis of Lisa Williamson throughout the book. Her preferences are what brought to an affair with a married man. Although there were few men who held the certain qualities that she desired, that didn't give the right to deal with a married man.
DeleteI agree with Richard throughout the book Lisa had an attraction for certain type of men. She loved black educated men who can stimulate her intellect through conversations
ReplyDeleteThat is True she is attracted to men of wisdom. All of these men got her attention through knowledge because she was seeking more information about her and her kind.
DeleteWhile reading this chapter i realized how Lisa Williamson mind becomes corrupted due to her desires. In all actuality when a individual has a desire they tend to do anything to obtain it. In this particular chapter she lower her standards in order to be intimate with a male who has no regard to her feelings (which was shown at the end of the chapter) i believe she was wrong and showed no growth in this chapter. lisa Williamson was so eager to find love that she'd do anything it took to obtain it. However Joseph can be looked as a male version of Lisa Williamson due to his ideologies and personality , she confused in love i think she was loving the wrong person especially a man who is married with children. She knew to use her physiques as a guidance to obtaining Joseph but i believe she failed when they ended up having sex .
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. She attempts to obtain someone unavailable to her because she is corrupted by her desires. She did anything possible to obtain it and never let it go. She contradicted her beliefs in order to fit in and be happy. She was oblivious that her actions lead to the deconstruction of an African American family.
DeleteI also agree with you Lisa and Daquan. She did not show growth in this chapter. She actually regressed because she is resorting back to her naive ways. As she got older she seemed to get younger mentally. She knows what she is not supposed to fall for and she always gets caught up in it.
DeleteI honestly do believe that she grew from this chapter. She grew mental knowledge and experience. Even though she was not able to keep him she learned about her self and what works for her.
DeleteI agree with you Daquan because I too believe that her mind becomes corrupted due to her desires. As said before there was never a stable male figure in her life since her parents split up. So seeing the various men that her mother used and never really loved, that had an impact on her and as she grew older, I also believe that she tapped into that part of her life.
DeleteI agree with Jahceim. As much as we want to say that she grew, she hasn't!Not in this chapter! Instead, she reveals this burning yern she has and her childish ways of getting what she wants. If she had grew, she would have known to walk around or step over her desires and ignorance. But she gives in and she gives in unknowingly blinding herself. However, we can say that she can/Will grow from such a mistake.
DeleteLisa Williamson was intrigued by Joseph's way of articulating himself and his intellects. Although being with Joseph contradicted her beliefs, she had outside influences and her desires that drove her to search for happiness in a married man. She was tired of waiting for the right man but ironically waited for Joseph who was the right man but unavailable. I thought Williamson was smart enough to not follow in her mom's footsteps but she was desperate and could let a good man go. She learned about her culture and history but her actions would lead to the deconstruction of an African American family when they have to be united in order to confront society.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Lisa. I also believe that Joseph id too be blamed also. I believe that Joesph knew from the beginning that he had a wife and kids and if it was to start dating Lisa it would not only ruin his family but it would also hurt them. No matter what words Lisa used on him and tried to persuade him that talking to her would be the right thing to do, he was an older man than her and he should have none and said better. Lisa was just at a point in her life where she really did not know what the definition of love and a real good man was.
Deletei agree with you that she was influenced by society and that she was rushing her self in to situations she can not handle on her own. she set herself up to believe that she needed a man and that a man was necessary in order to feel loved and appreciated this is incorrect. the problem at its sole is that she do not have self respect her respect is shared out to other portals that she does not have enough for her self. she is addicted to love and will stoop to any level possible to feel satisfied.
DeleteI agree with with your statement Lisa, I strongly believe that she was taken by his great and positive ways. He was everything that she ever looked for in a man, and being that he was married she needed to find a way to get to him. she was being conniving, but i don't believe that she was following her mothers footsteps. she had just become really desperate.
DeleteWhile reading, Lisa expresses that she allows her sexual temptation to influence her thinking. Her mind is her best-friend and her worse enemy at the same time. Her thoughts and mindset put her in predicaments that later effects her as time progresses. Joseph had all that she longed for in a man. He was strong, intelligent, and had power. His influence on the people was positive and a lot looked up to him. His marriage was the only thing that stopped the other women from attempting to have relations with Joseph. I honestly believe that as she regained her confidence, she believed that she could have any man she wanted including those who were already in a relationship. She used what she learned from Nikki as a way to manipulate his mind and convenience him that a their little thing would not affect anything, if no one knew. With all the different men that entered and left her life, she obtained knowledge on everything pertaining to men and how they act. She would can to a point that she would do anything for love, even if it meant taking a married man.
ReplyDeleteCorrel, you make a valid point here. As I stated below, I think Lisa wanted to love from a man that she did not receive from her father and this is why she continued to get herself stuck in these messy situations with different men. Did you think that all the different men that entered and life her life that she would learn ?
Deletei agree with you Correl she does allow her sexual temptation to influence her thoughts and her actions to fulfill her needs. Yes, her thoughts and actions put her in predicaments that later resulted in a negative way.. but why do you think she resorted to this new strategy of sharing a man and knowing that there is another female present in the relationship?
DeleteAll throughout the book, finding the right man has always been a problem for Lisa. Many times she has led herself into a relationship thinking that it was the right man for her, when in the end she would always end up hurt and backstabbed, similar to her mother. Out of all the men that Lisa meets, Joseph is the only legitimate man that she has ever encountered, even though he was already taken by another woman. This was because Joseph was intelligent, well-rounded, and a thinker. He was all about black politics; he was a strong leader of his black community and preached the word of God and positive morality to all of his subjects. Therefore, everybody in the community showed respect to him, and Lisa couldn't help but to crave Joseph.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Williamson's actions in this chapter reveals that she tries to go off of the first thought that pops up in her mind. Lisa Williamson said that she knew that Joseph was married and she wasn't trying to ruined his life but she could help but to want him. She knew that if she tried to start a relationship with him, it would not only hurt her but it would hurt his family and everyone's life in this situation. The thought of Joseph made her fall deep deep in love with him every time she was around him. To my belief, Lisa Williamson became attracted to Joseph because of the powerful words that sprung out of his mouth every time he spoke, and of course his looks (even though he was an older man). At this point in the text I began to think that Lisa Williamson was stuck looking for the love from a man that she did not receive from her father in all of the wrong places. Her father walked out of her life, so she really did not know what it felt like to be loved and she wanted it but just did not know how to find it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Tatiana ,She was attracted to Joseph because of his words and powerful stature .Since her father left her she was bound to be clueless as what it meant to be loved and love someone else. The thought of a strong man intrigued her , because she thought he would love her. She used her knowledge from Nikki that Sex and Love relate to each other in such a way that she thought he was going to leave his family for her. Even through she wanted a family she was willing to destroy one.
DeleteWhile reading this chapter, i feel as through another layer of Williamson's Character was displayed. She was attached to Joseph because Joseph was a Strong black man , intellectual and he fought for change for the black community. She was mainly attached to Joseph because he was a family man, he supported his family along with his community. She wanted a man to replace her father.Since her father left her and her family , her life wasn't the same. After her fathers departure , her mother fail to corruption of using sex for money and she lost hope. Seeing her Mother fail at her life, she wanted to do better for herself and family. her mother didn't teach her how to love a man and how to find a good one. So Williamson clung to the idea of a family man a provider.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you're saying Inari because Williamson had a need for a male figure in her life. Since her mother left her father when she was very young, it has been a constant fight within herself to find a man who'd love her the right way. Since she felt as though she was an intellectual individual and that she saw Joesph as one too, in her mind I believe that she sees it as the perfect match.
DeleteIn this chapter of Williamson's text, I feel as though she was conceited. She should have known what she was getting herself into. Joesph is a married man with children, it wouldn't have been very smart of him to lose all he had for just a temporary affair. Lisa was drawn to Joesph because he was a intellectual man. At this point in the text I see Lisa as someone who has been trying to find someone to complete her. I also feel like after the situation with Nathan happened, her whole view point on love changed. In addition to that, her friendship with Nikki also had a n impact on her. I believe Nikki showed her how to love the wrong way as well as how to present yourself to en the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Nikki showed what love was in the wrong way.Williamson allowed herself to fall in love with a Married man even through she knew the end result. I also believe that she was in love with him because of her views of the world changed after the events with her mother. She tried to pick a man that didn't relate to her mothers choices. her male companions all have the same traits. Nathan and Joseph were both smart and involved in they community.
Deletein my opinion this chapter demonstrates the work of women . they are determined to get whatever they want at any coast. i feel like she not only lost herself looking for love but she became a slave to the passion of Sex and turned her into the women she pity the most. like correl said in her post her temptation clouded her judgment. she finally found a man that cared about the same thing she had in a man and even him having a family didn't stop her. my overall look of Lisa changed , i lost a lot of respect for her and i feel that Nikki had a lasting influence on her life. she lied and said she was pregnant to keep a man who realized that he needed his family and his career more than her ans she still tried to keep him
ReplyDeleteBrandon you based your overall view on the negativity of the chapter. I agree with your point of view of Lisa. Lisa was a manipulated black woman who wants to get whatever she feel likes getting. This is however a contradiction towards her lifestyle one minute she is this outspoken speaking on building up her race and the next minute she degrades it by doing immoral actions.
DeleteBrandon i have to say that i agree and disagree with you. yes she was determined to get what she wanted, even though what she wanted she should have not persued upon becasue he was a married, doesnt mean she was demostrating "the work of a womem". what does that phrase mean anyway? however a women going for what she wants is not a bad thing. it shows the strengh behind a strong minded and determined woman.
Deletein my opinion this chapter demonstrates the work of women . they are determined to get whatever they want at any coast. i feel like she not only lost herself looking for love but she became a slave to the passion of Sex and turned her into the women she pity the most. like correl said in her post her temptation clouded her judgment. she finally found a man that cared about the same thing she had in a man and even him having a family didn't stop her. my overall look of Lisa changed , i lost a lot of respect for her and i feel that Nikki had a lasting influence on her life. she lied and said she was pregnant to keep a man who realized that he needed his family and his career more than her ans she still tried to keep him
ReplyDeleteAccording to the chapter and the thoughts and feelings of Lisa Williamson, williamson was drawn and sexually attracted to joseph. She was strongly and deeply attracted to his mind and the direction he and his mindset was heading in. She quotes, "...he was intelligent, respected, and admired by other men, which in some sense meant that he has some semblance of power… I wanted to feel personally, sexually… I wanted to feel him in the same way."(Williamson 167). However, williamson keeps and boast her self-confidence and her genuine characteristics as a African American woman, with knowing that Joseph was a married man with two children and knowing that deep inside she didnt want to disrespect him - muchless herself - by trying to get involved. Even though she knew this, she had a deep burning desire to have Joseph, to have a Black man who was indeed different from the rest, to have something she never really had...love. In my opinion, her actions was unjust and foolish. However, she knew what she wanted and felt like she should fight for what she wants. Yes the thought of dropping her beliefs and history for a MARRIED man was not a great idea, but when you really look at her and her environment from the beginning of the book, why jump on her for hoping and believing that something could be different for once.
ReplyDeleteYou are saying that her upbringing had something to do with why she wanted to be with him? And if so why didn't she look at how her mother and see the pain that she was going through with man and say I want better for myself? But I do agree with somethings you address.
DeleteWithin the chapter Joseph I believe that this was a very disturbed representation of an educated black woman. According to the text it states “Nobody could give greater comfort to a man than a sister who loves herself and uses her thick warm lips and big sensual eyes with an ancient soul and innocent exterior to make him do what he would not normally do: react spontaneously, abandoning all beliefs and philosophies (166)”. I agree with Lisa nevertheless when Joseph is incorporated within the picture someone who is highly respected and she lead herself confiding to the temptations was shameful. Joseph and Lisa is a disgrace to the black community yet still they are outspoken characters as they express themselves to better the society. I believe Lisa was desperate and she felt as though she have to get what she wants. She felt as though Joseph was the right man for her. I personally expected better from Lisa as she go indulge in a relationship with a married man with two children. Lisa feels she that she looked for men and none could compare with Joseph. ‘If I could find the same qualities in another man and, believe me, I’ve looked I’d take him. But you’re the only for me. I can feel it all over my body. I think about you all the time”. This quote represents the dismal traits in which she believe her presence doesn’t affect his marriage. This was a quality I believed she developed to satisfy herself sexually and emotionally.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that she was desperate. She think that she could just throw herself at him and he would leave his wife. She lack self respect, self esteem, values and morals. I saw this to say that if she can continue to sleep with a married man then she is just adding into the deconstruction of the African American male. I lost respect for after she told him she was pregnant which shows she go to all extent to keep a man.
Delete"You're too young and you deserve more than to be waiting on some old married man," she decides to wait anyway (177). This is what Joseph said to Williamson and she stayed because she felt as if she ran out of options. I feel as though she stooped to this level because she believe that there are no more single good men available so she would rather share a man with someone else. I believe this is double consciousness because one side of her is a person that does everything proper and by the book but the other side that is tired of getting hurt is doing the hurt on to others the same way she got hurt. She decided to wait because she thinks that if she knows that there is another person in the relationship to begin with there will be no surprises in the end because she knew all along.
ReplyDeleteJoesph was a very intriguing chapter as we began to see that, Lisa Williamson has a weakness for men whom have the same mindset and goals for society as she does. Joseph made Lisa Williamson weak, and what i mean by weak is, he had everything that she was every interested in. Not to mention that he was a black man, intelligent and a public leader in society and everyone looked up to him. These types of qualities that he obtained were something that Lisa always looked for in a man. Yes, he was a married man but at the same time, I believe she felt as though if she had tried her luck she could win him over. she went against everything she believed in, having an affair with this married man, even though she she tried to be strong, somewhere along the line temptation really got to her and she could not resist. At this point in the text I didn't loose any respect for Lisa Williamson, however i do believe in this chapter she became desperate to the point where, she needed to intervene with somebody else relationship .
ReplyDeleteIn No Disrespect by Lisa Williamson she being raised by a mother who have to go to many extent to make sure they survive. At this point in her life afeter being heartbroken by nathan she was began to make descions that she would regret. She strated to work on her body looking her best and think she could get anybody she want not thinking of the consequences that comes with being sexually active with a married man. Joesph was different his attiude, passion about what he belived in. she was young and very naviie she taught that her looks and body could get him to leave his wife for her, this made her look desperate because you throwing yourself at someone who is happly married. She is persuing these type of realtionship because not having the right guidance to show her that your looks, and body is not all a realtioship is about.

ReplyDeleteAs Lisa Williamson held a certain preferance for the men she wanted to be in her love life, she came across Joseph who fulfilled her desires. However, this man was a married man. After all the heart breaks she had overcame, she settled for someone else's man and tried to justify it as reasonable. Lisa Williamson is pressured and influenced by society to find the right man. Desperately, she seeks the right man in an unavailable man. She tries to spread this idea to every woman that they should share their men because there are few good ones. Also, to emphasize the idea, she says they are anyway but they just aren't aware. This idea gets her into situations with other women because she feels that they should be able to share their men in agreement with the one man and the women. I believe that this belief of her was one of the few unintelligent things she had said throughout the book.
